Estimator | Project Manager
Low Voltage Solutions, Inc (LVS), one of Chicagoland’s leading data network infrastructure, security, audio-visual and fire alarm contractors, is seeking an experienced Low Voltage Estimator/Project Manager.
This person will be responsible for responding to customer requests for proposals, bids, and current work under contract. The Estimator will report directly to the Director of Estimating and work with our Project Management team, high profile clients, technology engineers, general contractors, electrical contractors, manufacturers reps, and distribution teams to design and estimate structured cabling opportunities.
Job Duties:
Create and communicate complex scopes of work that are accurate, detailed, and minimize risk
Develop labor estimates across all disciplines to ensure project profitability
Assist the sales team by attending site-walk and pre-bid meetings; track all site visits and keep detailed information of site conditions for use in the development of accurate cost estimates/bills of material
Evaluate bid documents and make bid strategy suggestions; generate RFIs as necessary
Coordinate with vendors to obtain the best solution, most competitive price, and proper lead time on materials
Create equipment lists to meet design requirements, including all miscellaneous materials and cabling
Provide accurate takeoffs and cost estimates per TIA industry standards and BICSI best practices
Ensure that all estimating work meets all customer and company quality and safety standards
Meet bid schedules and deadlines
Stay up to date with new technologies and continued training while working on new industry certifications
Act as liaison between Estimating, Project Management and Operations after project is awarded; assist in hand-off meetings and ensure our work meets the expectations of the design and scope of work
Requirements:
Required Qualifications/Experience
Minimum of 3 years estimating experience, including previous experience estimating low-voltage systems and use of custom estimating tools or estimating software packages
Demonstrated knowledge of cabling standards (TIA/BICSI) and structured cabling components
Ability to read prints and specifications and demonstrated skill in writing detailed scopes of work
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to respond in a timely manner to fulfill customer needs.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with a positive attitude.
Possess adequate time management skills to perform estimating and project management skills at a high level.
Ability to manage multiple projects/estimates and present a high level of organization.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
BICSI certifications; manufacturer certifications
OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification
Working knowledge of Plan Grid, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, PlanSwift, Building Connected,
