The Details

BACKGROUND:

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital is a three-story tower with 110,000 square feet and 96 private patient rooms. The hospital, based in Downers Grove, Ill., has won numerous awards, including being named on the Top 100 Hospitals list five times. Advocate is the largest health system in Illinois.

THE PROJECT INCLUDED:

  • An on-site foreman and up to nine technicians at any one time.
  • Cabling for voice, data, wireless access points, cameras, and telemetry antennas. New backbone cabling was installed from the tower addition to the main hospital. LVS installed roughly 2,000 Category 6 cables on the project, as well as fiber optics and telephone trunks. State-of-the-art equipment is used for patient tracking, care and nurse response.
  • The addition is proposed to meet silver criteria outlined by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE:

Keeping up with time constraints, schedules, and turnover dates – particularly during a summer that proved to be one of LVS’ busiest.
