Project Highlight: CPS Dirksen Elementary School

Project Overview:

Everett McKinley Dirksen Elementary School at 8601 West Foster Avenue in Chicago, IL has been undergoing renovations and improvements to their existing education facility as well as a new annex addition to better serve their students. Dirksen Elementary was built in 1971 with an annex built in 1972. The project is being run by Paschen Bowa Joint Venture - Bowa Construction and F.H. Paschen, S.N. Nielsen & Associates, LLC. The architect of record is SMNG-A, Ltd. and Studio ARQ, LLC. The electrical contractor on the project is Fitzgerald Electrical Contracting, Inc.

Scope:

  • LVS completed the structured cabling communication system with Category 6 cable to over 200 locations and 32 HDMI cables. Also installed were 10 concentrator enclosures including 6 strand fiber optic cable and 25 pair Category 5e cable from CCE to MDF.

  • LVS completed the fire alarm system including 79 horn/strobe devices, 96 strobe devices, 25 pull stations, 33 smoke detectors, 10 duct detectors with RTS and control modules, 18 tamper/flow connections, 4 door hold connections, 8 trouble bells, 3 NAC panels, and fire alarm control panels. LVS will be providing engineered drawings and customer training upon completion.

  • LVS completed the installation of the base video surveillance system including Category 6 cable to 54 IP camera locations.
