Christian Brothers Services | BMQ Media Studio Audio Visual Design Build

Christian Brothers Services is a nonprofit organization that administers cooperative programs in the areas of health, retirement, property/casualty, technology, school management and consulting services to church organizations. Since 1960, Christian Brothers Services has exemplified the Lasallian tradition by understanding the needs of their members, protecting the human and financial resources of institutions and guiding member organizations in finding practical solutions to business needs.

In an effort to further their mission to members and employees, Christian Brothers Services put forth an initiative to better utilize technology to their advantage and provide content to members in an innovative way. The idea of designing a custom media studio for Christian Brothers Services’ Romeoville campus came back in 2019 after leadership went to visit an association partner with a state of the art media studio in-house to provide innovative content to their members and employees. The team started internal discussions of overall functionality, goals, and a technology ‘wish list’ shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic started. After a brief hold, the team started fully engaging contractors for the design-build project in spring of 2021. Christian Brothers Services had intent to move forward with an audio visual contractor, but in an attempt for ample cost comparison, they needed a third proposal. They then inquired to their long-time electrical contractor partner for recommendations and the introduction to our Audio Visual Division was made.

LVS Audio Visual Division Manager, Erik Sover, took on the project as the division’s first design-build endeavor. From the beginning, our team’s focus was identifying the different use cases of the media studio and seeing the the 10,000-foot view of the path of Christian Brothers Services technology. From podcasting, virtual conferencing, to live interview streaming, the media studio’s goal was to provide the opportunity for a diverse range of content creation and communication. In doing so, our team was able to clearly understand their vision and were able to put together a technology design and infrastructure to not only encompass their initial goal of the media studio but ensuring infinite growth potential for the future.

LVS brought a new look, higher level of technology, more experience, better communication, skilled review of the technology, and more…each of our meetings provided more examples of how LVS was better prepared to lead this very large project. Erik Sover is the main reason LVS was selected as the vendor. Erik has the ability to simplify and explain a very complex, technical solution to the CBS team.

The training process began with an initial session of introducing the various technology elements and running through of the different use cases. This enables a collective review to provide any refining or fine tuning of the system programming. Once updates were completed, the LVS team then delivered a final, comprehensive training of the system to Christian Brothers Services team.

Next Steps for Technology at Christian Brothers Services

Christian Brothers Services is working alongside the LVS Audio Visual Division to bring similar streamlined technology to their various meeting, conference, and training spaces throughout their facility. LVS took this into consideration when designing the BMQ Media Studio to allow for integration capabilities to showcase content directly from the studio to designated spaces throughout the facility.
